Home Again, Home Again

Jiggity Jig.

Since I live in Seattle I'll be roll'n like this:

I'm back home from Hawaii and while I'll definitely miss the sunshine I might as well enjoy my surroundings. So until we meet again, you just might find me rocking out in the rain, Gene Kelly style natch, with a smile on face...

Draw It Out; Self Portrait

I've loved to sketch since I was a little girl. I even won my first bicycle in a drawing contest! It's was mint green, white, and way too big for me but I grew into it. Also, I didn't even learn how to ride a bike till I was almost 9! Awkward, I know...* But I digress...

For some reason I've always been able to draw self portraits and strangers truer than anyone else. Maybe it's because I had to do it so much in my college drawing class or maybe it's because I have a hard time viewing my loved ones with a harsh enough eye to get all the crooks and crannies of their beings just so... Either way it is what it is.

Note my oh so nifty fifty era Edna glasses.*

What sort of things do you like to do that have stayed with you from childhood?

Kisses,

K

*But not quite as awkward as the sight of my gangly limbs pedaling my pink and purple Cabbage Patch Hot Wheeler hard enough to keep up with the rest of the neighborhood, on their real bikes natch... Did I care? Nope. I was just out having a good time with my friends and was nothing if not comfortable with who I was which is probably why I still even had friends on that thing at age 8! Ha! Memories...

*I now call them my Edna glasses because one day when I was particularly grumpy I saw my reflection in the mirror and realized "Surprise!" I rather resembled Edna from Monsters Inc at that moment. It sure made me stop and laugh. Even the husband reluctantly agreed.

Who I Am

I finally got around to reading January's Matchbook Magazine the other day and this month's The Matchbook Girl really struck (I know, I know, I'm cheesy...) a light with me.

I totally do numbers one and three through eight (I've been in the process of working on number two for a little while as well, health problems be damned cause I plan on succeeding irregardless).

What kind of person are you? Do you lead a charmed life wrist-wise, dream of belle Paris, and dance like no one is watching till dawn?

Kisses,

K

2nd Anniversary at The CanoeHouse

Style, Anchored

I love how Sarah Vickers, of the blog Classy Girls Wear Pearls, does classic nautical style. With anchors and a patrician New England flair it's fair to say this look is both fun and classic.

It's all the little details that really make this look sing. The quilting on the boots, the raw leather holding the binoculars, her oxford collar reinging in the sweater's casualness, the anchor and nautical rope bracelets, a pop of color on the pants, and lastly just a touch of a classic plaid peeking out.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that I love anchors either. ;)

K

Anniversary Lunch

Having a paradisiacal post hula lesson anniversary lunch on the bay terrace. We Huki-lau-ed and now we're pulled pork, calamari-ing. :)

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Husband!

Happy Anniversary Husband! We've now been married for two years and despite all the ups and (many) downs we keep moving forward, together. And that's the most important and wonderful part of our fairytale, the together!

I'll never forget traipsing about the Magic Kingdom Park (we got married at the Boardwalk Hotel at Disney World) with you the morning after our wedding, taking photos, having a blast, and being oh so in love despite being so very tired (the shoot happened around 4am).

We met in Italy, rendezvoused in Florida and Chicago, I moved from Florida to Chicago, we moved to Seattle, we moved around Seattle (a lot in fact), now we're visiting Hawaii, and wondering where on this earth we will live come July when your residency is done... (Whew!) But no matter where it is, where we've gone, what we do, or where we go... We'll do it, together!

Kisses,

Your KJ

A Little Sparkle.

While I'm off galavanting in Hawaii I thought I'd share a little sparkle to perk up your hump day (i.e., that day day, Wednesday, that means your only half way through your week).

I have a bad habit of trolling vintage jewelry sites online... I love the designs, sparkle, history, and just plain old daydreaming of that special sparkly something and what sort of events it could be worn too... Sigh...

Winged diamonds best for an evening affair where your heart feels like it's taking flight... Weddings... Anniversaries... Or even just a gorgeous pick me up.

A crescent of turquoise and opals to add a little mystery to your life.

Cushion Cut studs, because everyday should sparkle... And because I'm obsessed!

A naturally pearly sparrow with a twinkling ruby in its eye... For your lapel or hair, because my birthday is in July, J'adore pearls, and I just love swallows... There's something so sweet and lovely about them.
A rock crystal bracelet to match the cushion cut rock crystal bracelet I got for Christmas because you can never have too much sparkle!

A platinum and diamonds by the yard Art Deco necklace because it's so elegantly versatile. (And because my blue diamond one got lost several years ago and I'm still not over it, I know, I should be.)

Hope these sparkles helped you get the most important sparkle you can have to last till Friday... The one in your eyes, that is. ;)

Kisses,

K
