Bits of my Summer...

So... I totally dropped off the face of the internets this summer... Between being sick regularly (ugh...) and super busy I didn't seem to have enough time to live online and offline so I chose off. :) In the spirit of sharing though I'm making a re-newed effort to get back to this space.
This Fall finds me starting new classes and endeavors and busier than ever but that also means I have tons to share! So, I'm starting with the cool stuff from this summer and then I'll work my way forward.
Here are some random bits:
We watched Fourth of July Fireworks via a pontoon boat on Bay Lake over at Disney World.
It was pretty epic in my opinion!

We got silly with our sweet crazy pup!

We watched some amazing sunsets.
I celebrated my birthday in style, thanks to my spectacular Husband and lovely family! (Here's to 31!)
Had more Abigail the Westie time!
Enjoyed Florida wildlife despite the heat.
Which included the loveliest family of cranes! (They're under the tree in the distance, I didn't want Abigail to scare them off.)
Enjoyed all the beautiful nature here.
Saw some magical moons.

And were continuously blown away by the colors of Florida's sunsets.

Stunning!

More to come soon!

What did you do this summer?

Kisses

Easter Baskets Of A Sort

I love Easter! The resurrection of my savior, the joy, the renewal, spring,
and,
yes,
the chocolate too!
So here's a peek at what I've got going on in the Easter basket department.
First of all, there are no baskets... I use bird cages.
More after the jump!

It's A Small World's 50th Anniversary!

Disney's It's A Small World had its 50th Anniversary last Thursday and I was lucky enough to head over to the Magic Kingdom to take it for a float with my family. My Husband, Mom, and Dad all joined me for the trip down memory lane the park and it was so much much.
Hope you enjoy it too!

And now that you have the song stuck in your head I bid you adieu! ;)

Kisses,

K

Scrabbled Sunday

We finally got a scrabble board instead of just playing on electronic devices!
It's a pretty dapper looking swiveling board at that!

It was also my first time ever playing on an actual real board too. (For some reason when my family played growing up I never did... Perhaps it was the ADD and Dyslexia deterring me...? It was, Lol)
At any rate...
It was my inaugural board game on our inaugural board and guess who lucked out and won?
Me! With ikon for the win at 344 to 325!
I was having a terrible, awful, no good day so saying I was psyched for the win is an understatement... (Sorry Husband but I was stoked!)
How was your weekend?

Things Lately

Here's a peek at things lately.
(If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some of these already.)
My sweet pup on a cold day modeling a sweater from Grandma.

Tiny heart shadows in a porcelain candle holder.

The adorable 3-d anniversay card my husband gave me!

Enjoying driving my still fairly new car. (And still enjoying my sparkly blue diamond engagement ring too!)

Today marks three years of marriage with my soul mate.

Dearest Husband,

Inspire Me Tuesday: Grateful

November is the time here in the U.S. that we celebrate Thanksgiving. But I think it's important in the midst of all the impending Falliday and Holiday hustle and bustle to stop and take the time to be grateful.

I've been trying to do that this month with the Husband by writing down one thing apiece each day that we're grateful for. While I haven't been the best at writing it down everyday we have been good at taking a moment out each evening and sharing what we were grateful for that day.

It's definitely been a positive experience and encourages us to look for the good in each and every day! Plus, there's the side benefit of us getting to hear what's important to our spouse each day whether it be something big or small.

What makes you stop and feel grateful? The sun shining? Loved ones? Getting a moment to sneak a treat?

Kisses,

K

Scenes From Chicago

Chicago is one of my favorite cities. I loved living there* and I love to visit! The Second City by the lake** is always actually quite first rate: great people, great food, great art, great architecture, colorful, and great personality! What's not to love?
So to help you understand why Chicago is "my kind of town," I though I'd reminisce by sharing the pics from my last walk down Michigan Ave. this trip with you. (And yes, all this awesome is really on a walk-able length of just one street.)
So here's my walk downtown back to the hotel from over by Water Tower Place on Michigan Avenue, but the pics are in reverse.

The Elevated tracks' color coding system adds some spiffy to the stairway.

Streetlights aglow.

The home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, who are superb! (Although I do miss the old conductor Daniel Barenboim.)

The awesome park next to the Art Institute.

One of my favorite city icons, one of the lions outside the Art Institute.

The pointy topped building in the top right of the photo is actually the very architectually appointed Chicago Athletic Club. Pretty posh, no?

The ever fabulous Art Institute of Chicago. Go! It's pretty incredible!

The Husband looking fierce with one of the lions.

Another great wing of the Art Institue with another great sculpture garden to match.

More awesomeness.

This is a fantastic interactive sculpture set consisting of cascading towers of water, light up and video glass block, and the faces of Chicagoans. If you're ever in Millenium Park be sure to check it out, it's super fun!

The Cultural Center used to be the city's main public library (Don't worry there's a massive and beautiful one to replace it.) so it has wonderful literary quotes tucked away amongst all it's fab architecture. It also has a stunning and quite large Tiffany glass dome inside. It's a quick, easy, and so worth it Chicago must see!

The Cloud Gate sculpture tucked away up in the middle of this photo is in Millenium Park and more commonly known as "the Bean" among locals and tourists alike. It's a gorgeous bean shaped metal sculpture polished to a high mirror shine that reflects its surroundings. I'm rather found of it. :)

The Frank Gehry band shell in Mikkenium Park is the place to be in the warmer months. The city puts on tons of free shows and concerts featuring all the fab performing arts that the city fosters.

Trump tower and the Wrigley Building.

A lovely Milton quote on the Tribune Tower where a lot of city's broadcasting used to be done.

The Tribune Tower entrance.

Busy city streets.

The Hancock Tower.

I love shopping downtown, including at Water Tower Place.

The Husband and the Water Tower.

The iconic Water Tower that survived the great fire of Chicago.
Hope you enjoyed our quick jaunt through the city together! Keep in mind that all these photos were taken while walking and talking and never stopping. (Except at crosswalks when we truly had to stop of course. Jay walkers annonymous here I come.)
All in all it took us about 15 to 20 minutes to walk the 1 to 2 miles between Water Tower Place and the Palmer House Hilton, our hotel. When in the city... speed walk like you still live there!
Kisses,
K

*except for the c c cold freezing winters... Brrr...

** Weird weather in Chi-town? That's easy, it's just lake effect ;)
