Draw It Out: Happy Holidays!

I decided to sketch my sleeping westie puppy, Abigail, the other day. (She may have stolen my heart and I might be mildy obsessed now.)
She then decided she needed cuddled while I was working. (She loves to sit on my lap and nap while I sketch, paint, or make jewelry, which is pretty adorable.)
So, at any rate, with it being a festive time of year and my heart melted by her cuteness I ended up with this.
Which I then edited with the "A Beautiful Mess" app on my iPhone so...
I could greet you all with this!:

Hope you're having a beautiful holiday season!

Bevies of Beverages...

Remember this photo from Sunday's post?
Well, I was trying to think of a fun way to spruce up my bar area for the Holidays when I came across the great Elizabeth Taylor quote. I am a big fan of the fabulous Liz, a lipstick lover, and like to enjoy a good margarita so it just organically developed from there... "I know! I'll paint a margarita in water colors, write the quote on top, and frame that baby on my bar! Yes!"

So I did!

The bar area is definitely a work in progress though. Note: the tiny Christmas bulbs on display as a holiday season nod. I picked them up when I was at IKEA and since I'm still unpacking... Ugh... I saw no point in putting them away then unpacking them too so out they went!

We're still working on collecting more liquor for this area. You'd think two childless married thirty year olds would have more alcohol on hand... (And yes, fellow nerd fans, you're eyes do not deceive you. That is indeed a Davinci Code codex on the left mingling with the corks.*)

Our house has what can only be referred to as a Butler's Pantry (fancy I know but don't worry otherwise it's a normal looking house and I'm the butler.) and that's where I'm hosting this display shindig. Hopefully the set up will progress to an elegant beverage station sort of look...

Kisses,

K

*My husband actually won an exact replica of the one used in the movies by solving puzzles in a competition. This is what you got if you made it to the second to last puzzle. Once you got it open it contained the http address for the final puzzle. He came this close to winning us a trip too but the final puzzle was incredibly difficult. (He's in Mensa people so trust when I say it was hard!)

I hope your weekend is filled with extra rest and relaxation!
Mine will be filled with painting if all goes according to plan... ;)

Draw It Out

I decided to do a little sketching today.
I ended up deciding on drawing a baby zebra.
Then I decided to make it a little more whimsical with the addition of some ballet slippers and a crown. The prancing feet just reminded me of dancing and the ballet.

I think it's destined for one of the new little babies that have entered the world recently who's Mommies I know.

Yes, Please: Days Fall Away...

Like leaves off the trees...

This time of year the days go by soo fast and before you know it it's January and you don't have a new calendar...

So when I saw this year's über cute calendar design by Inslee Haynes I new I had to share it! I definitely want one. Yes, please!

How great are the sweet illustration! It's hard to pick a favorite but October is perfect. :) Maybe its because it's October now or because I have an Art History degree but... I love it. I also think all the others are super adorable too.

If your in the market for a calendar be sure to check it out! Her site also has a cute blog and other lovely illustrations for sale.

Enjoy each day to the fullest!

Kisses,

K

Bridal Shower Inspiration

Today is the day of my sister in law to be's Florida bridal shower that I'm throwing. After polling her as to what she'd like I had: Eiffel towers, French things, and the sort of palette and look from Marie Antoinette's period at Versailles. Then I sifted and sorted through the Internet and Pinterest to find inspirational images to get my ideas flowing. This is some of what I found:
All of that gave way to me sketching this:
A Versailles inspired sketch of the bride herself.
Then that gave way to this:

The save the date for the shower (many of the invites where going to people out of town so I wanted to make sure they had enough notice).

It's a lot of pictures and process just to get things rolling, I know. But I thought it'd be fun to share all the pretty with you. I'll show the actual invites and more details later as things progress.

Kisses,

K
