Snow Day

Today was the first snow of the year here in Seattle! Glistening white falling from the sky... I totally pulled a Charlie Brown's Christmas and was sure to catch one on my tongue.
Hooray for snow!
"Snow.... Snow...
Snow... Snow...

SNOW!!! It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow...

I want to wash my hands, my face, and hair with snow

Snow...

I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow

Snow...

Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing all winter through, that's where I want to be

Snowball throwing, that's what I'll do

How I'm longing to ski...

Through the snow- oh- oh- oh- oh

Those glistening houses that seem to be built of snow

Snow...

Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow"

A Walk In The Park, Part Two

Even though it was winter it was such a beautiful clear day.

(The Olympic Mountain Range behind Vashon Island and across the Sound.)

(A cute creation we happened upon. Who doesn't love Love?)

(Flora and fauna)

(Lush green winter woods)

(Winter berries in the woods.)

(Winter berries on branches.)

(The mountains silhouetted in the trees.)

(Massive evergreens against the blue sky.)

(Can you spot the bald eagle above?)

(There it is!)

All in all it was typically magical walk in the Paciffic Northwest!

K

A Walk In The Park

I woke up this morning to the sun shining brightly in the crisp frosty air. I opened up all the blinds and let it flow over me while I drank my coffee in the quiet. Glorious.
When Husband woke up we relaxed a bit and decided to head over to Lincoln Park to enjoy a brisk stroll in today's bounteous sunshine (He's working nights at the moment).
There's nothing like a new year and sunshine in Seattle to make you giddy with all the promise and possibilities of the future, make you thankful for today, and grateful for things past.

More sunshine and mountains coming your way. :)

Christmas At My House

This year Husband and I spent Christmas eve and day by ourselves, he had to work. :( So I wanted to make things as special as I could.

We only ever have a small tree, since live ones take more work than we have time right now. So I strung garland along the ceiling in order to hang all of our ornaments and make it look merry. I also "frosted" the windows with "snow" to make our Christmas seem more white than the actual grey, raining skies outside...

I covered the house in candles to make a warm glow.

Made a festive calendar (making sure to include both Husband's and Baby Jesus's birthdays!), card nook, and took out the scissors to make snowflakes fall softly on windows and presents.

"Taxidermied" a pair of headband antlers, icicle garlanded the stairs, hung my DIY mistletoe, wrapped presents, and proudly displayed my Pinterest inspired DIY wreath.

Used glass jars, cake domes, and crystal vases to create a few very merry vignettes around the house.

Then I sat back enjoyed how all the little details came together.

Husband impressed me by choosing an un-imposed wrapping scheme. Yes. I'm that girl who usually imposes one but he wrapped first this year and created one, all on his own, that I was proud of! So to return the favor I impressed him with my plaid ribbon weaving skills and super fluffy handmade bows.

All in all it was a holiday filled with post work snuggles, sparkle, and cheer!

What's your favorite part of the Holidays? No matter what it is, I hope yours was filled with love and joy!

Seattle Fish Co.

The other day the husband and I were wondering around the junction in West Seattle when our hunger got the best of us and we decided to check out the Seattle Fish Co. Husband had heard great things about it and they were all true!

The fish is all super fresh and local with great prices!

It smelt awesome too. The way it's supposed to smell, or should I say not smell, when it's fresh.

There was a great little cafe area to eat in with a great menu to go with it.

The crab cakes and accompanying salad were both soooo good and fresh we forgot to get a photo before we dug in.

We did get a photo of the fish and chips in but they didnt last long. I think we found a new favorite fish n' chips spot! Our old one closed down :(

I washed it all down with a WA made honey creme soda that was the best creme soda I've had yet!
It was all super delicious and I recommend it for eating in or buying fresh fish to make at home! If you're ever in my neck of the woods, or sound as it may be, give them a try!
