Food And Wine Thus Far

A photo drop of my Epcot Food and Wine Festival excursions thus far.
Double rainbows on the way into the parks!
Sporting my Magic Band with the Small World cover, an Argento Alchemy original silver and braided silk bracelet, a silk thread friendship bracelet (that I share with my Mom actually) from J Crew's past seasons, and my freshly loaded food and wine bracelet. You load it up with money so you can just hold it up and have it scanned. No fumbling with wallets which you would otherwise do a lot. It also helps keep you on budget, when the money you loaded is gone... You're done!
Love walking past the Dance Hall on the way into Epcot... memories...
Sister shot.
And because someone was nice enough to offer to take a photo of the three of us, Allen got in on the action too.
Different Epcot trip with other family members this time. :)
The view out the top floor windows of the American Pavillion in the Chase Banking members lounge. Just flash your bank card and your in! You'll enjoy a free quirky soda extravaganza, access to a place you never normally get to, A/C, nice restrooms, and free charging stations for your electronics.
Another view shot overlooking the concert stage with Spaceship Earth in the distance.
Spaceship Earth.
The Brazil stand plays lively music and is cheerful even on the rainiest of days.
The "banks" of the French Pavillion overlooking the lagoon and the Morrocan, Japanese, American, and Italian pavilloins (respectively when going counter-clockwise).
Playing with the viewers.
Aaah, Paris...

And a lovely lit night shot for good measure.

Kissers,

Wanderlust Wednesday Foodie Edition: Proper Pie Co.

The other day my Husband and I were craving some honest to goodness British crumpets... Mmm... Back in Seattle we'd just head on down to Pikes Place Market to the awesome crumpet dedicated bakery there.
(So so good, if you're ever that way go!)
But where to go here inOrlando
A quick internet search lead us to Proper Pie Company.
So we popped in the car.
It's a fantastic authentically British and totally yummy bakery.
They bake a variety of sweet and savory pies everyday and even do fish and chips every Friday.
The bakery itself is pretty small and informal with the kitchen area visible and in a tiny roadside plaza but the food...
So yummmy!
They have pies coming out of the oven, pies baked and frozen for travel (One Brit in front of us in line drives all the way down from North Carolina), and pies baked that morning that are chilled in the refrigerated display with along with Brit desserts and drinks.
If they don't have what you want hot, no problem.
They'll make it toasty in a jiffy.
They also have all the yummy shelf goods. Like the British Oxo gravy and my favorite candy, the crunchie bar.
They even had the British Easter candy in stock for the holiday!
(I was sure to pick one up to tuck in my Husband's basket.)
And this Vimto I tried, it's like a blue slushie! One of my favorite things!

If you're in a hurry to fill your tummy, like we were, you can take your hot pie outside to a little picnic table. The staff will bring anything being heated out to you along with some HP (kind of like a British A1 steak sauce).

The pie above was a yummy curry one but every kind we tried was sooo delicious that we couldn't pick a favorite.

And if you want to pack it up and bring it home everything heats to perfection still.

Even this Scotch egg was still yummy heated up at home.

(It's a hard boiled egg covered in a breaded sausage mixture that's lightly fried and sometimes has bacon thrown in there too for good measure.)

Of course, they had crumpets and scones too but we ended up saving those for another day. Lol.

Proper indeed!

If you're local, go!

(They ship and cater too!)

Park Avenue in Winter Park

One of my favorite Florida gems to visit is the little town of Winter Park, Florida.
It's a sweet historic town with a lovely little railroad station, charming shops, great restaurants, art galleries, museums, and prestigious Rollins College.
Last time we went we decided to stop by for lunch and a stroll.
My favorite place to eat is an Italian place called Panullos. They have the best calzones around!
We shared bruschetta to start then dug in to the main event.
Their calzones are huge! We had so much that we split it and still took some home. They'll put anything you want in it but my favorite combo is spinach and pepperoni. The fresh basil and and grated parmesan on top really take it up a notch.
After eating we strolled up and down the avenue tucking into shops here and there and just relaxing.
I was lucky enough to live in Winter Park for a short time and this fountain was my favorite place to sit and read in the afternoon sun.
I always love this historic house La Casablanca's Feliz. (More on it later in another post though.)
The trees ate very reminiscent of old Florida. Mostly tall and stately oaks dripping in Spanish moss.
The Ave also has a lot of fabulous Art Deco details! which I love.
And the streets are quaintly done in cobblestone.
The sun hiding behind some clouds.
How fun is this old bicycle outside this antique jewelry store.
The Ave has a lot of special little nooks full of surprises like this garden and koi pond with it's surrounding shops.
Some of the koi are pretty big too. Well fed, I'd say.
And I love this tree growing in the middle of it all.
The far back wall consists of this cool slate fountain and a really neat painted Winter Park mural.
Here are a few pics of it:
Aaaaand, there's a Lilly Pulitzer store!
This zebra dress with the fringey bottom really wants to come home with me, I just know it.
I loved its kitschy palm tree chandeliers.

And this framed fabric print made me smile.

Winter Park is one hidden gem of a place in an otherwise very touristy are that I highly recommend these king out for a lovely break from all Orlando's theme parks.
