Things Lately

This week was a bit crazy...
We started off with trying to write down what we are thankful for everyday for our Consciously Grateful November Memories.
I ended up sick and in the ER...
And it was the worst ER I've ever been too.
Which is saying a lot! I've lived in major metropolises like Chicago and Seattle and been to trauma one level (the most intense) ERs that functioned far better. The same ER were also absolutely terrible after my Mom's major car accident and never started her transfer to the trauma center for surgery and sucked when my pregnant sister had to go there too so I'm not sure why I was surprised but...
Celebration Hospital ER did not even check my blood pressure once in three hours! And our OB office had sent us over... Oy...
We ended up having to leave and get help elsewhere. Baby and I are ok now but it definitely shook my faith in giving birth there...
Then the poor Husband came down with a gnarly cold that's been going round my family.
But...
Abby got the cutest magazine ever in the mail which made me smile!
I enjoyed realizing that my pajama covered baby bump matched my oh so very Florida girl bedding, lol.

And despite both the Husband and I being sick all week Abby was a trooper and entertained herself with all the toys till she wore herself out, lol.
How was your week?

K

Consciously Grateful Day Three

Consciously Grateful November Memory Day Three:

Today we are especially grateful for access to healthcare and for our OB office.
I was not feeling very well and (despite an absolutely terrible ER experience...) am so grateful that our baby is ok and that I was able, in the end, to get the care I needed.
Healthcare is such a blessing and one that should never be taken for granted by those of us lucky enough to have access!
Kisses,
K

After Christmas

Well, Christmas this year didn't go remotely as planned... My Mom was in a bad car accident, had to have surgery, then a stay in the hospital. And I, of the chronic auto-immune issues, ended up with pneumonia... No Grand Floridian gingerbread house visits for us this year...

That being said, we're both ok and our family got to be together on Chrirtmas Eve. Nothing is more important than that! Even if it was brief (I'm pretty sick) it was lovely to be with them. My Mom has a long road ahead of rehab and won't be allowed to put weight on her severely broken leg for a while and hopefully my pneumonia will go away (soon please!) but even then those who love us make our lives worthwhile and wonderful!

In the meantime, here's a bit of sunshine to perk us all up!

This Slim Aaron's "Christmas Swim" photo from 1954 is Ahhhmazing! Someday I needs must re-create it!

Facts: I live in Florida. I have a pool.

Let's make this happen someday people!

As they say at Lilly Pulitzer, forecast is sunny and palmy...

And sunshine calls for more sunshine, especially when feeling blue. Whenever I feel down or sick and am able to I try to dress extra perky even when no one will see me except my pup and husband. Thus today finds me in yellow Pilcro pants (from Anthropologie) and a pineapple shirt and cardi (from Target).

The cardigan: i.e. Florida's winter coat.

Let the sunshine in!

Kisses,

K

I'm Back! / Getting Creative

Things are still pretty crazy around here*... But after my health recently affected me in a negative way once again (and also a sad way that I'm not quite ready to chat about...) I decided it was time to start putting myself first.

For me that means saying no when something is too much, accepting the support of my loved ones (and not feeling guilty about it), putting my body's health before things like dishes and laundry**, and allowing myself to do what I love most; being creative.

Allowing myself to get creative fills me up and de-stresses me like nothing else. Also, it's high time I listen to my Doctors and do the things that help keep my body relaxed and whole. For me that's making.

When I'm playing my ukelele or guitar, writing songs, painting, or any other number of things, I feel good. The only thing that makes me feel better is when I get to share those things with loved ones and the world around me.

Because of that I decided it was high time to get back to work making jewelry for my line Argento Alchemy. I put it on hold to care for a family member for an extended period of time, then because of our move, then because of my own health issues, but no more.

Argento Alchemy is back and it feels awesome! Of course, with that amount of time passing and a Paciffic to Atlantic level location change I'm starting all over at the beginning again... But I don't mind beacause as Julie Andrews sang, it's a very good place to start!

My favorite plier to work with, jump rings, spring rings, and sterling silver metal bits that I recycle and re-use.
Hand stamped double sided "a" tags for the pieces I make.
Yummy rubies with a clear bright cherry color for something special!

It's not January and this is not a New Years resolution but a life change that needs to stick for my own health. It comes with its challenges, rheumatoid arthritis and hands that randomly go numb... But it's so worth it for the kick ass feeling I get when I power through and create something that another person cherishes.

What are you doing in your life to take care of you? Whatever it is, let's stop feeling guilty about it together and start feeling awesome because when we take care of ourselves we can also share our best selves! Isn't that the goal in life anyway?

Oh, and more to come on the special something very soon!

Kisses,

K

*Yes, I'm still putting away all our Christmas decor after being gone for most of January. Yes, I know it's February... (Sheesh.) And, no, don't cry for me Argentina because I was in Hawaii for my sisters gorgeous wedding. (Yay! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Rowin!)

** for me that means exercising first and if I don't have the energy to do the dishes when I'm done, well, they can wait... And shockingly wait they do! Lol, who knew? Revolutionary right?

The Very Beginning...

A very good place to start... I opened up this blogger account almost a year ago with the full intention of starting a blog. My life, or should I say health, had other plans... (Sometimes I think John Lennon should have said health is what happens when you're making other plans. Cheese pizza? Don't mind if I do, thanks! Clogged Arteries? Not so much...) You see my body decided to have some "fun" and "entertaining" breakdowns this past year that just kept getting worse.

Well they say new year new you, right?
I'm still running in the big gerbil wheel that we call "Modern Medicine" and the smaller wheels we call "Eastern Medicine" but instead of running a little bit only to be flung upside down and flat on my face }: | I'm finally starting to keep up pace, even if it's a slow one... Oh, and I'm trying to figure out how to run a business from home too!So what's the point of all this you (or my Mom since she's probably the only one reading, hi Moma!) ask? To let you know where my starting line is and that hopefully we can "abc" and "Do Re Mi" along through the rest of it together. I'm ready! Ready for more! Ready for challenges! And READY to chat about all the things I love and love to share!
So grab a cup of your favorite beverage and let's be friends!
(That way we can start dishing about all the good stuff!)
Besides, I'm already sure you're interesting and fabulous!
(As well as being fabulous enough to
"Say one sweet thing to five people today!"
I know I'll try to!)
Kisses,
K

P.S., my posts won't always be this long but sometimes a girl's just gotta give a friendly intro and explanation! Hope to see you soon!
