Disney Day

A couple weekends ago the Husband and I headed over to the parks for the day to meet some family and a friend.

Naturally this called for wearing my new fuzzy Minnie ears and Cakeworhy Coach tee.

I may or may not have picked up these fuzzy little beauties in the children's section of the store over at the Boardwalk hotel and resort. May meaning that I did.

Don't judge. I'm a Disney nerd and they're super fun.

They were a huge hit at the parks too.

We got into the Magic Kingdom in just enough time for the parade.

And on our way back to meet the fam I spotted these baby ducks and had to stop to say hello.

Sooo cute!

The sun was shining and the trees were in bloom. Just lovely.

Unfortunately our family was riding Pirates of the Caribbean by the time we got out from behind the parade so....

I decided this was the perfect time to set a terrible example for all the children exiting the ride while we waited. (Sorry parents. It was fun.)

Also, how cute is this pirate shirt?

Arrr...

Then we headed over to peek at the New Fantasyland and most of the walls surrounding the Seven Dwarfs Mine ride were down!

 

 

It looks super cool and I can't wait to ride it!

Also new is this King Triton.

Then we stopped in here to see if my sister in law was working. (No dice.)

Where I saw this cute new Ariel tee.

After that we decided to head over to Animal Kingdom so I'll leave you with this topiary tea party till tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I am so grateful for my many family, friends, and loved ones! I have so much to be grateful for and I try to remember that everyday of the year but love getting to remember that with loved ones this time of year in particular.

Friendship and Succulents

Today I find myself really missing my beautiful friend who made me this beautiful basket of succulents.

 

We've both been going through some hard times lately and I miss how our laughter would fill the room. It always cheered me up.

Even though we didn't get to see each other often as we'd have liked when I lived in Seattle (chronic illness can be a bisnitch) just knowing she was a drive away was comforting.

Now that I live across the continent from her I'm feeling the withdrawal. So I'm watering my birthday succulent and smiling while sending her a shout out. Lady, I miss you! Darn these stupid time zones and miles... I'm sending you love, laughter, and smiles on the internets instead.

Ch ch ch Changes

So I'm pretty sure I fell off the edge of the internets... Beware there be dragons here...

 

My electronic paraphernalia has been prone to fits of disfunctionality on the regular making it über hard to post and life has been nuts.

 

Amongst the many changes:

My cousin who should have turned 30 first, died this year right before his birthday.

 

I flew to FL for my youngest brother's wedding to both participate and assist in its execution. He is only 24 ya'll. Crazy love, crazy stress, crazy fun!

 

Flew back to Seattle for my hubs graduation. My husband finally finished his Anesthesia residency program after four years!

 

I turned 30! on July 2! (Eeep!)

 

We said goodbye to all our friends and moved from Seattle back to... FL! For my husbands new job in.... da da da dA! Tiny Tavares, FL. Culture shock much? I think yes.

 

We are currently still homeless (i.e. crashing with my parents an hour away in Orlando) while trying to find suitable living up in the middle of nowhere. Are we fussy? But of course. Where's my Staples easy button?

 

My parents then moved right after we moved to FL, while we're crashing with them. Their new house is awesome but totally in a stressful state of moving disarray. (Plus, didn't we just do the moving truck and boxes thing a couple weeks ago? Yes, yes we did...)

 

Also, my parents household currently consists of: my parents, my ill elderly Grandmother, my youngest brother, his wife, my husband, me,and their dog. I'm pretty sure at this point in their life that list should be significantly shorter. But it's not and they're super awesome for allowing all the crazy!

 

(Suitcase life is grand and all but I want all my sh** back out of storage!)

 

Also, being car-less in Chicago and Seattle was easy. In FL? Not so much...

 

Positive stuff, they rented out our old place for August so we got August rent $ back!

 

We're going to be insured and making dolla dolla bills again (we had nada for the month of July b/c no one worked for the month of July. There was just oodles of medical boards studying going on.)

 

And... We have a three day weekend coming up so we're heading down to the Vinoy in St. Pete to kick off our shoes and relax couple style. So I did my nails in an attempt to pretty it up again and hold on to the last bit o' summer.

 

So... That's the gist. Got it all? It's been one heck of a crazy, crappy, and sometimes awesome year... I'm looking forward to things settling again. I'll be posting re-cap stuff with photos as able and hopefully some new new stuff soon too.

 

In the meantime, here's a pic of my awesomely silver fingertips on my Mom's summery nautical pillow. I'm wearing Essie's "There's No Place Like Chrome."

Paramount Theatre

My friend had an extra ticket to see the broadway musical The Book of Morman at the Paramount (her husband couldn't go) so she invited me along. Of course, I said yes! I love musicals and theatre and hadn't been in a while so I was psyched!

(The main lobby of the Paramount. The Paramount Theatre was built in the Beaux-Arts style by architect B. Marcus Priteca and opened in 1928. It's centrally located in downtown Seattle and is gorgeous! It was my first time there, but more on that later...)

My favorite scene was actually the opening number, Hello. It was well performed and laughter inducing. Above is a video clip of it being performed at the Tony Awards.

A good time was had by all. The Seattle theatre crowd is a bit more raucous than I'm used to but it felt right for this musical. My friend compared it to being in a Southerrn Baptist church service. To which I say, "Can I get an Amen!"

What do you think about the creators of South Park having a musical... Interesting notion, no?

Things I Love

My good friend and I completely missed each other during the Holidays due to traveling. So when we met up the other day (when she taught me how to knit) she sweetly brought a present along.

She gave me the sweetest arctic fox porcelain ornament and this set of arctic push pins that I'm in love with!

I had my eye on them for a while but they're one of those cute luxuries you don't usually buy for yourselves.

I am smitten.

And how gorgeous is her holiday card!?! The photo is from her summer wedding in Charleston this past year. Isn't she a gorgeously glowing bride?

I love that my New Year is both starting off and continuing with the with the sort of fun, love, and joy that the Holidays bring! I hope yours is too!

Friendship; Knitted

My sweet friend came over to hang out last. Even though we hadn't seen each other in a while we spent the evening listening to fun music, chatting, laughing, and knitting (it was my first time). It was perfect.

I've always wanted to learn how to knit. We'd talked about it previously, so she brought over a basket of wool and needles and patiently taught me how to do it. She even lent me her adorable strawberry tipped needles she learned to knit on!

So grateful for sweet friends and new skills.

Strawberry Picking

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I've been having some technical difficulties... :( On the bright side, it's looks like everything should be working now (fingers crossed)! Now on to my post:

My birthday's tomorrow (last year of my twenties, yikes!) which gave me the perfect amount of leverage I needed in order to get the husband to go strawberry picking with a few of the girls and their men yesterday! (Birthday blackmail for the win!) So we all loaded up in two cars and drove out to Broer's organic u-pick farm.

A good time was had by all! My one friend planned on making jam but I had more immediate uses for my strawberries... Strawberry shortcake! More on that later though.
