Madewell Fall 2012

I love Madewell's Fall 2012 collection!

Even though it's summer there's something exciting about looking ahead to fall fashions. It reminds me of the excitement and nerves of picking out your outfit for the first day of school when you were young.

My favorites are the leather shift dress in the first row, the "white" outfit in the third row (this one would be a great Seattle summer outfit even since its still 50's and 60's most days here), the striped skirt with the striped scarf in the fourth row. Plus, I love me a big floppy hat!

What's your favorite?

Kisses,

K

Officially A Landmark!

Chicago's own Wrigley Building finally achieved officially historic Landmark Status today!

The ground was broken back in 1920 by the chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. in order to house his corporate headquarters.

The Wrigley Building as seen from the bridge spanning the Chicago River (See the Hancock Tower hiding in the background on the right behind the blue flag?)

The gorgeous building was designed by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White with the shape of Seville's Cathedral's Giralda Tower as inspiration. At the time it was the only major office building north of the Chicago River.

The much newer Trump Building towers over Wrigley but never outshines it

Congratulations Wrigley Building, you were always the most iconic Landmark in Chi-town to me!

K

Amour, Doux Amour

While I was down in Florida earlier this week I had the privilege of witnessing my sweet brother's proposal to my lovely new sister-in-law to be!!!

First he went to a photo booth at Disney's Boardwalk in advance to "prepare."

Then later that afternoon when they just happened to be walking past it he got her to take a picture in the booth.

So... What did she find when she went to pull their picture out?

A stealthily placed "Will You Marry Me?" photo strip in its place! As she was processing what was happening he got down on one knee with the ring and proposed!

(We were standing by with champagne, roses, and lots of excited smiles! The sweet Disney workers who witnesses it even gave them a happily ever after Just Engaged pin, what fun!)

Congratulations to the happy couple!!! I am so excited for you both and can't wait for Jen to officially become part of the family!!! Let the joyous festivities begin!!!

Kisses,

K

Graduation Day(s)! or To My Brothers

Two of my brothers graduate this week! One from college and the other with his Masters degree! I couldn't be any prouder (just in case all the exc!amation points didn't tip you off...)!!!

Aristotle said: "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet."
Tim and Jonas, I know you've both succeeded through hard work and perseverance and I know that because of that, because of those deep roots that you've put down, that your reward is sweet this graduation weekend. My wish is that it is just as sweet everyday of your lives. I love you both and am so proud of you guys!!!
Kisses,
K(J)

Packing Process

Everyone has their own packing process when it comes to traveling. Some people fly by the seat of their pants (literally, cause they only packed one pair) while others have a meticulous process they go through and are ready weeks in advance. What do you do?

Baby Let's Cruise

"Let's cruise, let's flow, let's glide..." (cue cheesy 60's classic music here) on a vacation away from it all... leaving all our worries behind...

Mr. T and I are going on a cruise to México this weekend for our one year anniversary/ honeymoon!
We decided to stay at our wedding destination after it was all over so we could visit with all our family and friends who came to the wedding that we never get to see (seeing them requires cross-continental travel) so it wasn't really a quiet honeymoon but more of a celebration continuation. (Although we did sneak away each night for a just the two of us dinner at some fabulous places!)

(Picture of Wedded Bliss: 1/23/11 (I'm laughing about something here. That man can always make me smile!)
Needless to say we're super excited to get to take this trip! The crazy pre-travel laundry packing has commenced. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly to bring and what balance of warm and cold clothes will work best this time of year when you're cruising to México.
So I will put off pesky rental hunts till we get back. I can't wait to be off to warmer snowless places... Aaaah sun... How I've missed your smiling rays...
Jeans for colder days.
Cute nautical stripes everywhere, anywhere, and any color.

Wide brimmed hats to keep the sun off my pale skin, colorful bikinis to make up for the pale skin, and a great sunscreen to keep it safe!
Kisses,
K
